My name is Edmund. My parents named me after New Zealand's most famous explorer and I have inherited many of Sir Ed's characteristics!
I love to travel and learn about the world. Almost as much as I love bananas! I'm looking forward to finding out more about kauri dieback and what we can all do to help, especially because we live near a lot of kauri here in Titirangi.

Kia ora everyone
Today I got to drive around Kerikeri with Andrew and Egbert on a kauri tree spotting mission. We saw a few young trees, but the real icing on the cake was Manginangina Scenic Reserve in Puketi Forest. It only took us about 20 minutes to get there but it was like stepping into another world. Five minutes’ walk and we were standing right next to some massive old kauri. It reminded me of some of the great kauri trees we have in the Waitākeres.
We’ve got an early start tomorrow. It will take us about two hours to drive from Kerikeri to Waipoua Forest for the first web conference at 9:15.
I better get an early night!

Kia ora everyone
Today we went to Waipoua Forest. We had to get up quite early to drive there from Kerikeri so I’m still a bit tired.
It was cool seeing you guys on the web cam during today’s web conference. I hope to see you on the other ones too.
I enjoyed being in Waipoua Forest. It’s a bit like the Waitākere Ranges. They also have some big old kauri trees but of course I showed respect and didn’t try to climb any of them!

Kia ora everyoneIt was a very interesting day on the field trip today. We met Travis Ashcroft and Kim Brown from MPI. They are part of a large team from different organisations all working to help save kauri. Today they helped us learn about some different technology being used to help fight kauri dieback. Things like apps, GIS, remote sensing, and aerial surveillance.

Kia ora everyone
I have had a brilliant time on the field trip. I met some really cool people doing some great work for kauri. As you know, kauri dieback is present in the Waitākere Ranges. It may also be spreading to kauri we have growing at our own homes. We too have some work to do to spread the message!
It was cool getting back to Titirangi School today and introducing Andrew and the Egbert to you all. Hopefully I can go on another field trip soon!
