Meet David Irvine
Job:
Senior Visualisation Specialist and UAV (drone) pilot.
Job description:
Aerial mapping and creating 3d visualisations for landscape and visual effects assessments.
Work background:
Based in Wellington, travel quite a bit for the UAV surveys. These use the drone to take photos and record positions of wilding pines and then creating GIS maps. Often surveys will be repeated in order to check on the changes over time.
Favourite part of job:
Travelling to the South Island to fly the drone.
Least favourite part of job:
What's not to like!
What I am working on now:
Mapping project of Zealandia Ecosanctuary in Wellington.
Qualifications:
Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering, Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Member of the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors.
Interests outside work:
Photography.
